Philanthropy

From the time of our founding, Alpha Delta Pi has believed in the importance of giving back to our community. A dedication to philanthropy guides our members to spend time in the service of those who need it most. Our international organization’s commitment to Ronald McDonald House Charities has led to the donation of over $15,000,000 over the course of our partnership. More than 350 Ronald McDonald Houses in 64 countries help keep families with seriously ill or injured children together when they need it most by offering them a comfortable, temporary residence in proximity to a medical facility.

ALPHA DELTA PI
LOVES THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF CHARITIES

Throughout the years, our sisters have given back to the Ronald McDonald House of Charities in Las Vegas, Nevada in various ways. RMHC is a "home-away-from-home" for families and children who are receiving inpatient or outpatient medical treatment at local hospitals. With the help of the house and our efforts to support them, we are helping lessen the burden of resources and financial stress. Through our biggest, annual philanthropic events, Pie a Pi, Hoops for the house and Diamond Games, many Greek organizations on UNLV's campus compete to see who can raise the most money, pop tabs, and donations. Not only do these events support the House, but it's also a great way to connect with other organizations and get them involved. In the fall, through these events, our chapter was able to raise $20,000 to the Ronald McDonald House here in Las Vegas.

We also support RMHC through a multitude of events. One of our favorite ways to support is by cooking breakfasts and dinners, for the families and children residing in the house, multiple times throughout each semester. We also participate in events that our local RMHC house puts on, like their Trunk-or-Treat, Run for Ronald 5k and Fun Walk, and annual food drive. Trunk-or-Treat is a fun way for the kids with critically ill conditions to celebrate Halloween, while remaining close to the house. The annual Run for Ronald 5k and Fun Walk, is one of the largest fundraising events that aims to promote the charity and shows the community's support for the families. Lastly, the annual food drive enables us to fill the house's pantry, as all the groceries in the house are donated. During this event, we're able to see the community come together for a great cause.

A Message from our Philanthropy Chair

Philanthropy is a major part of being an Alpha Delta Pi woman. We pride ourselves in serving those in our community, specifically Ronald McDonald House Charities. Alpha Delta Pi began our partnership with RMHC in 1979 globally and locally since 1998 and our love for the organization and its impact has only continued to grow.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) provides temporary housing for families traveling to Las Vegas to receive critical medical treatment for their children. RMHC does its best to give “home-away-from-home” for these families by providing free boarding during the time of children’s treatment, home-cooked meals each day, and a comfortable and safe environment.

Sisters donate pop tabs for donations, cook dinners for the families staying at the House, as well as participate in food drives to collect food and monetary donations to the House. By connecting with families at RMHC and the community of Las Vegas, sisters learn more about the importance and greater impact of helping their community.
